Not a lot today because I've mostly been reading and (gasp) writing. I'll talk about that sometime soon.
Thanks to this post, I picked up a collection of Leonard Michaels' short stories and had some why the hell haven't I read these before??? moments. If you like Barthelme and Paley, you need to get this book immediately.
Joshua Henkin on a few things that I happen to like. I agree that that there are fetishistic things going on in all three examples. It doesn't bother me because I'm very obsessive ruminative, but I can see where that would translate into heavy-handed.
I've often wondered about the CLMP's online submissions manager. Vivian at upstreet explains its benefits from an editorial point of view.
And finally...I always feel like I annoy people when I send things in Facebook, so here goes: You're welcome to join a Facebook group that I started out of very serious concern. (Feel free to friend me if you haven't, by the way.)
You know, I had the same impulse when I read that puff about Leonard Michaels - I just didn't follow up on it. Now that I've got your recommendation, though, I've put a hold on it at the local library. Can't wait to dig in - thanks for pushing me.
