Writers' rooms (via BookLust) I'd like to say I'm a Michael Frayn, but I'm really more like a David Hare with a plastic kitchen set.
Uzodinma Iweala going to medical school made me think of, well, Chekhov. (via The Elegant Variation)
What happens when you don't take the job in Connecticut.
Yes, I read the weekend updates. And the rest, too.
Intentional communities hit Metafilter.
Yeats' "The Second Coming" and the war on Iraq. (via Maud Newton, whose recent post on Jesus Camp led to me watching it this past weekend and being utterly engrossed and spooked at the same time...)
Also spookworthy this weekend...Thanks to a post last month from Gwenda, I spotted Life as We Knew It over the weekend and picked it up. I went home and read the entire book in one long sitting, probably with family members clamoring for my attention. After I finished the book I looked outside to make sure everything was still okay, and made myself a sandwich...and man, was it good. I also thought: If the world ends and the neighbors come over here looking for aspirin? I'm not opening the door...I'll throw the bottle out the window. And maybe I'll pick up a couple hundred pounds of pasta on the way home.
